“Initially hired David to review code for the game at a very early stage and was blown away by his abilities and after a round with the board we hired David as lead developer for the project. He brought with him other developers who also did great work and I can say with full confidence there would be no Domi Online without their expertise.”

Unity TechnologiesClient Testimonials
“David worked with us on a 2 month project to build a mobile game. He has shown throughout his thorough knowledge of Unity and C#. Communication was clear. And he has made himself available when we needed him most. We continue to work with him on ad hoc basis.”
“David is very patient and has great communication. He is an appropriately skilled freelance Unity developer who understood our project goals from the beginning and worked with us diligently throughout our slow-burn design process. I am pleased that we chose David to develop version 2.0 of our Vocab Builder. Thanks David!”
“David did a great job with the project and was able to take a great amount of autonomy. There was very little need to go back and forth and ask him to change anything. His code is also very clean. He laid out his own roadmap plans and worked well with the rest of the team. Ultimately, he applied his experience and knowledge in the field very well. Very satisfied with the output of his work.”

Full Bio
Ocean View Games was founded in 2020 by David Edgecombe as an engineering-led game development studio focused on practical, experienced technical delivery. David previously worked at Jagex on RuneScape Mobile, while both David and Adam Kaye previously developed educational and interactive projects at fish in a bottle.
Today, OVG works across new game development, co-development, technical architecture, performance optimisation, porting and legacy modernisation. Projects range from building scalable systems for Domi Online and developing the technical foundations of Bookwood to mobile development, educational games and modernising older software for current platforms.
OVG operates with a small senior core team that stays close to the work. When an engagement needs additional capacity or specialist disciplines, the studio can expand delivery through a trusted network of contractors it has already worked with on real projects, including engineering, backend, art, UI/UX, audio and QA expertise.

Our work spans new development, co-development, optimisation, porting, technical architecture, educational games and ongoing engineering support.
What is the studio’s connection to Jagex?
Director David Edgecombe worked at Jagex from 2017 to 2019 on RuneScape Mobile, helping bring the long-running MMORPG to iOS and Android. That experience forms part of the engineering background OVG brings to current projects, alongside the team’s work across educational games, mobile development, technical architecture and legacy modernisation.
Does Ocean View Games work with organisations outside traditional game studios?
Yes. OVG works with game companies as well as educational organisations and teams building interactive experiences. The team’s previous work includes projects for Cambridge University Press, the Museum of London and EU-funded educational programmes, while our own clients include organisations such as The Language Conservancy and GamerCat Studio.
Can Ocean View Games handle larger projects?
Yes. OVG has a small senior core team, but we can scale delivery through a trusted network of contractors and specialists we’ve already worked with on real projects. Depending on the engagement, we can bring in additional engineering, backend, art, UI/UX, audio and QA expertise while we retain technical leadership and accountability.
