Platform Readiness Checklist

Platform Readiness Checklist

Submitting a game to a platform store is where projects stall. Missing a single requirement can delay your launch by weeks. Select your target platform and track every step from certificates to store assets.

Need Help Getting to the Finish Line?

Platform submission is the last 10% of the project that takes 30% of the time. From managing certification requirements to optimising store listings, we handle the entire launch process so you can focus on your game.

Requirements are accurate as of March 2026. Platform policies change regularly. Always verify against official documentation before submission. Console-specific requirements (Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox) are partly covered by NDA. Registered developers receive comprehensive checklists directly from each platform holder.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most App Store reviews are completed within 24 to 48 hours, though times can vary. Complex apps or first-time submissions may take longer. Apple provides no guaranteed timeline, so it is best to submit well ahead of your planned launch date. You can check the current average review times on Apple's developer portal.
Steam charges a one-time fee of USD $100 per product via Steam Direct. This fee is non-refundable but becomes recoupable once your game earns $1,000 in Adjusted Gross Revenue. There is a 30-day waiting period between payment and release eligibility. Beyond the submission fee, Valve takes a 30% revenue share on the first $10M, dropping to 25% between $10M and $50M, and 20% above $50M.
Lotcheck is Nintendo's mandatory certification process for all games published on the Switch. It checks platform compliance rather than acting as a full QA pass. The review covers Joy-Con behaviour, text handling, eShop integration, correct controller icon display, rating descriptor compliance, and the absence of hard crashes. Titles must be submitted at least 30 days before the expected release date, and the process is iterative, meaning titles can fail and be resubmitted. For more detail, see our console porting service.
Yes. Every major platform requires a published privacy policy. Apple requires a privacy policy URL for all App Store submissions and mandates Privacy Nutrition Labels. Google Play requires a privacy policy and the completion of the Data Safety Section. Steam requires GDPR compliance for any data collected in-game. Console platforms (Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox) have their own data handling requirements specified in their developer agreements. Even if your game collects no personal data, you still need a privacy policy stating that. It is also a legal requirement under GDPR, CCPA, and other regional data protection laws.
