Mojo Games approached Ocean View Games after viewing our track record and learning of our experience maintaining complex systems at Jagex. The brief was to collaborate on a management-style game that matched current mobile market trends. Our research identified that merging mechanics were a rapidly growing genre with strong engagement metrics and monetisation potential. We recommended building Pocket Factory as a merge-and-manage hybrid, combining the satisfying loop of item combining with deeper factory simulation. Gameplay Design from Zero: Unlike a port or update, this was a ground-up design challenge. We needed to balance depth against the casual-friendly expectations of the merge genre. Monetisation Strategy: The game required a sustainable revenue model that did not compromise the core experience. This meant careful integration of adverts and in-app purchases at natural break points in the gameplay loop. Ocean View Games worked alongside the Mojo Games team from initial concept through to release, taking responsibility for both design and development of the core systems.
